Il Grande Dolomiti Extreme 2010

Week 34/35 with start in Caprile and finish in Riva Del Garda.
 

A fantastic tour, where we drive around in the Dolomites and crosses through the Trentino valley towards the Italian Alpes.

The complete tour is around 825 kilometers, (515 Miles) and with the possibility of up to in total 18.250 meters (60.000 ft) of climbing in 7 stages.

The tour is for the passionate road riders as well for the road racer who wants to see some of the most beautiful and most demanding climbs in Europe.

The tour is meant for racing bicycles and starts in Caprile 29. Of. August 2010 and ends in Riva Del Garda by the Garda Lake,  4. Of September 2010.

To mention some of the passes we have the opportunity to see is: Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella, Passo Gardena, Passo Valparola, Passo Fedaia, Passo Valles, Passo Duran, Passo Staulanza, Passo Costalunga, Passo Stelvio, Passo Trivigno, Passo Mortiorolo, Passo Gavia, Passo Tornale, Passo Mendola, Passo Andalo etc.  Many of the passes are well know from Giro d ´Italia.

Please observe that if a participant has tired legs or if you want to reduce the distance and climbs, you will 2 times on the tour have the possibility to have a rest day or to take an easier demanding route.

Also observe that it at all times is the guides who takes the decision regarding to make the route shorter or to cancel the planed tour if for instance the weather or other things should demand it.

There will be at least 3 guides on the tour and they will each have the responsibility for their groups.

There will be 3 groups:  Group A, B and C, which also will refer to the expected speed in the group.

When groups are driving on so called transport stages, (flats), we try to drive as group and first when we are going to climb the riders can drive in their own pace. At the top of the mountains we are trying to regroup and very often our service cars will be waiting at the top, where you can get some refreshments or some dry clothing if necessary.

Your luggage will be brought from hotel to hotel and furthermore the service car will bring other good stuff under the stages. In the service car you will have the possibility to bring some of your own equipment for the different stages. It could be dry socks, bicycle tricot, wind west etc. Also the service car will bring our lunch packets which will be a big sandwich, 2 bottles of soda, coffee and fruit. The service car also brings free water for the tour. From the service car you can buy different energy products such as bars and gels. It also brings extra tubes, extra wheels for both Campagnolo and Shimano.

Stage Cities we come to on the tour: Caprile, Meran, Bormio, Kaltern and Riva del Garda. The hotel has a high standard. 6 days on ****hotels and 2 days on ***hotels.

The first 3 nights will be in Caprile, one night in Meran , 2 nights in Bormio, 1 night in Kaltern and 1 night in Riva del Garda.

The price for the tour including double rooms, ½ pension and earlier mentioned lunch packet from the service car, transport of luggage from hotel to hotel, bus transfer from Milan/Malpensa to Caprile and from Riva del Garda to Milan/Malpensa will be 910 € .

If you want single room it will cost you and extra 135€.

Please observe that our hotel in Riva Del Garda cannot guarantee double room for everybody. There will be some of us who has to be in rooms for 4 people. On the other hand it will be in big rooms at about 35 square meters.

If you want to use our free bus transfer, you will have to book and pay your own flight ticket. The Bus transfer will depart from Milan/Malpensa 28. Of august 2010 at about 1115 from Terminal 1.

When we leave Riva del Garda 5. Of September 2010, the bus will depart at around 1330 and is expected to be at Milan/Malpensa airport at around 1700.

Please observe that your bicycle must be in a box, bicycle suitcase or a bicylebag during the bus transfer.

There will be a max. of participants of 45.
